Camp Staff Background Checking and Training:
Our Y requires and contacts personal references on a pre-employment basis. All of our childcare staff (camp staff included) receives a Level 2 background screening (including fingerprinting) as recommended by DCF as well as a pre-employment drug screen. All applicants for employment are interviewed by a panel of Y administrative and program staff. All staff sign an acknowledgment of receipt & training on our Y's Child Security and Accountability Policy, Child Abuse Prevention Procedures and our Code of Conduct. In addition, each applicant is tested on our child security and accountability policy which they must complete with a score of 100% before they can work with any children. Our Y has worked with, and our policies and procedures, have been audited by Praesidium Inc., a nationally recognized firm that specializes in child abuse prevention and training.
