All staff sign an acknowledgment of receipt & training on our Y's Child Security and Accountability Policy, Child Abuse Prevention Procedures and our Code of Conduct. Each applicant is tested on our child security and accountability policy which they must complete with a score of 100% before they can work with children. Our policies and procedures have been audited by Praesidium Inc., a nationally recognized firm that specializes in child abuse prevention and training

Adventure Guides

YMCA parent-child programs are the YMCAs oldest and most successful programs for families. In 2003, Ys across the country introduced a new take on a long-standing program (Indian Guides / Indian Princesses), calling it YMCA Adventure Guides. The primary goal of Adventure Guides is to strengthen the bond between a parent and a child with a focus on the “compass points” of family, nature, community and fun. Small groups called Circles meet on a regular basis, usually biweekly or monthly. Occasionally, several Circles come together to participate in larger activities such as campouts, parties, or parades. These outings are called Expeditions. The core of the YMCA Adventure Guides program is these Circle and Expedition meetings and adventures. Typical activities include ceremonies, games, crafts, songs, stories, skits, and outdoor pursuits such as camping, hiking, and swimming.

If you’re looking for fun, structured time to spend with your children and community in Indian River County or Port St. Lucie, send an email to or call (772) 215-9780.
